Art + Work

Kat Pawlowski

Kat is a sculptor who explores ideas about the way the world works, both figuratively and literally. Her work asks questions such as why do certain things intrigue or repulse us? Where does nostalgia come from and why is it so powerful? She doesn't have one distinct style of working nor a particularly favored medium, but frequently incorporates humor in her work. Working in wood, metals, foam, cement, plastics, silicone, clay and electronics, Kat has created 3D works that range from Escape Rooms and Haunted Houses to novelty personal items and domestic furniture.

Currently, Kat is working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Metropolitan State University creating works that explore new skills and push established boundaries. She enjoys fabricating in copper and wood along with re-contextualizing found objects in a study of modern sentimentality.
